Annamacharya Gosthi

A Sankirtana Gosthi was performed by Sri Venkateswara Annamacharya Society of America  on 9 October 2010 from 4pm to 7pm at the 62 Peony, Irvine, CA to have a spiritual discourse and group discussions on the life and works of Annamacharya.  More than 30 people participated in  the Gosti including some school children under age 12.  This event was sponsored by the interested participant group of residents in Torrance and Irvine who were keen to learn more about the Sankeerthanas in a casual set up so that each of them could freely participate in the discussions.  Also they wanted to give their children an exposure to the Annamacharya Sankeerthanas.  The Gosthi began at 6pm with the chanting of "Om Namo Venkatesaya" for seven times followed by the Gurudeva Prarthana  "Sri Mathvadeeya" on Annamacharya.  Satya Duvvuri, president of the organization, presented a discourse on Annamacharya and his works for about 30 minutes.  The participants including the children recited about fifteen Sankeerthanas of Annamacharya.  Satya Duvvuri narrated the the meaning, the context, and the significance of each Sankeerthana.  He responded to questions from the participants that helped them learn more about the Sankeerthanas.   The Gosthi concluded with the recital of Managalam at 8pm.  All the participants shared the Prasadam that was provided by the participant group after the event.
