SVASA organized
the devotional services commemorating the
498th Vardhanthi of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya in
Riverside (CA), Las Vegas (NV), Fremont (Ca), Livermore (Ca), and Fresno (Ca)
during 24 February 2001 to 4 March 2001. Hundreds of devotees attended the
devotional services. Riverside, California (24 February 2001, 4 pm): Procession (Ooraygimpu) and invocation (Aavaahanam) of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya and Sri Venkateswara by Satya Duvvuri, Kamisetty Srinivasulu and others. Annapurna Duvvuri opened
the service with the Gurudeva Prardhana (prayer). Satya Duvvuri, president of the organization
spoke about Annamacharya, the organization SVASA, and detailed the sequence of
events to follow in the commemoration service. Pandit Shukvak and Akshay
Seth spoke about the role SVASA is playing in bringing awareness of Annamacharya
and Balaji to the community. Meena Ramachandruni recited
the Sankirtana "Dinamu Dwadasi Nedu" invoking Sri Tallapaka
Annamacharya. Following the invocation, Sri Kamisetty Srinivasulu offered
a spiritual discourse for about 90 minutes on the life and works of Sri
Tallapaka Annamacharya. Meena Ramachandruni resumed the recital of
Annamacharya Sankirtanas after the spiritual discourse. Vijaya Allakki
joined Meena Ramachandruni in rendering the Sankirtana recital. Both were
accompanied by Shankara Subramanian (Violin), R. Srinivasan (Mridangam), and
Kamesh Nookala (Kanjeera). Kamisetty Srinivasulu provided the commentary
explaining the meaning and importance of each Sankirtana, while Satya Duvvuri
occasionally added to the commentary. The Sankirtana recital spanned for
90 minutes until the Mangalam (Kshirabdhi Kanyakaku) was recited.
Before the Mangalam Dr. Srinivasarao Naka felicitated Sri Kamisetty Srinivasulu
and the dedicated musicians. Aarathi was
offered by the priest Samudrala Seshacharyulu to Padmavathi and Venkateswara.
