SVASA organized the devotional services commemorating the 498th Vardhanthi of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya in Riverside (CA), Las Vegas (NV), Fremont (Ca), Livermore (Ca), and Fresno (Ca) during 24 February 2001 to 4 March 2001.  Hundreds of devotees attended the devotional services.

Riverside, California (24 February 2001, 4 pm):  Procession (Ooraygimpu) and invocation (Aavaahanam) of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya and Sri Venkateswara by Satya Duvvuri, Kamisetty Srinivasulu and others.

Annapurna Duvvuri opened the service with the Gurudeva Prardhana (prayer).  Satya Duvvuri, president of the organization spoke about Annamacharya, the organization SVASA, and detailed the sequence of events to follow in the commemoration service.  Pandit Shukvak and Akshay Seth spoke about the role SVASA is playing in bringing awareness of Annamacharya and Balaji to the community.  Meena Ramachandruni recited the Sankirtana "Dinamu Dwadasi Nedu" invoking Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya.  Following the invocation, Sri Kamisetty Srinivasulu offered a spiritual discourse for about 90 minutes on the life and works of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya.  Meena Ramachandruni resumed the recital of Annamacharya Sankirtanas after the spiritual discourse.  Vijaya Allakki joined Meena Ramachandruni in rendering the Sankirtana recital.  Both were accompanied by Shankara Subramanian (Violin), R. Srinivasan (Mridangam), and Kamesh Nookala (Kanjeera).  Kamisetty Srinivasulu provided the commentary explaining the meaning and importance of each Sankirtana, while Satya Duvvuri occasionally added to the commentary.  The Sankirtana recital spanned for 90 minutes until the Mangalam (Kshirabdhi Kanyakaku) was recited.   Before the Mangalam Dr. Srinivasarao Naka felicitated Sri Kamisetty Srinivasulu and the dedicated musicians.  Aarathi was offered by the priest Samudrala Seshacharyulu to Padmavathi and Venkateswara.
Later, dedicated volunteers distributed Prasadam to the attending devotees.  The commemoration service ended around 9pm.
